There are three main installation methods:
DETAILS:

- This is the least intrusive installation method leaving you minimal to no touch up work after installation
- A replacement method is more cost effective
- The duration of a replacement window project is shorter and the process less disruptive, many projects are completed in a day
CONS:
- Window becomes slightly smaller due to the fact that the window is being installed inside the existing window frame
- Does not allow for change in window sizing
DETAILS:

The old window frame is completely removed down to the framing, this includes removal of interior and exterior trim
- If window sizing changes, walls need to be reframed

The window is fastened to the sheathing with a flange
- New trim is installed on the interior and exterior of the home

Windows should be foamed, caulked, and taped using high quality product such as OSI and 3M – This insulates the space around the window and seals the window blocking air and water from entering the home
PROS:
- This method allows for changes in window sizing
- Windows will have full glass area as the entire existing window frame is being removed and the new windows is install inside the stud opening
CONS:
- This is the most intrusive installation method, siding and sheetrock may need to be patched, trim and walls need to be painted after installation
- A new construction installation method is more labor intensive and requires more material resulting in higher project costs
- Due to the labor intensive nature of new construction installations projects are longer in duration and more disruptive

- This installation methodology is based upon a replacement window installation requiring additional carpentry work to finish the window
- A retrofit installation is typically dictated by the type of window you have, retrofit installations are common on casement and basement windows
